2017 Greatest Movies, 2018 Upcoming Blockbusters

Movies can be good or bad or in between. There are comedies, horrors, romance, action, and so many more genres that it would take the entire length of this page to name. I am a movie connoisseur, I watch them all, and I love them equally. So here’s my list of 2017’s greatest movies to catch and an even greater list of 2018’s upcoming blockbusters to look out for.

1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Despite fan reviews this movie was a powerhouse of action, story and that great Star Wars feeling. A must see for anyone even remotely interested in Star Wars, as well as those diehard fans we hear so much about now.

2. Wonder Woman – Gal Gadot nailed her performance as America’s first super heroine to gain her own movie. This movie is an absolute killer in the box office and is still today receiving critical acclaim for the progressive actions of the filmmaking team.

3. Get Out – Although this movie premiered very early on in 2017 it was still a hot topic to debate about throughout the year. Many critics and fans alike loved Jordan Peele’s horror movie. A must watch for any fan of a mind melting horror.

4. Thor: Ragnarok – Another super hero movie topping the charts of 2017, Thor came into 2017 swinging his mighty hammer, and boy did it leave an impact. Hailed as one of the best super hero movies of all time, Thor really delivers a kick-ass, action packed movie with some killer sci-fi elements.

5. Logan – Hugh Jackman’s last movie as the infamous Wolverine hit off 2017 with thunderous applause. Movie goers loved the movie because of how gritty it was and how sad the story became throughout the movie. A must watch for anyone, as long as you don’t mind blood.

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming – When I saw this movie my ‘Spidey-Sense’ immediately hit me. This was a fantastic movie all the way through, often capturing how it felt to be a teenager in this crazy world of ours while also growing the story of “the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man” we’ve all grown to adore over the years.

7. Coco – Pixar’s latest installment of wonderful animation and top tier story telling took the icing on the cake this year. Using a combination of animation and motion capture technology they were able to capture the feeling of wondrous musical ability and that perfect way only Pixar can do to make us feel like little kids again.

8. Jumanji – The classic Board Game becomes a video game in this year’s surprise hit. With a stellar cast including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, the movie was a major success even competing with the likes of Star Wars. An absolute laugh through and through with epic adventure and action to add to the overall feeling of the movie. If you liked the original Jumanji, you’ll love this one too.

9. Baby Driver – A great blend of excellent music with that Fast and Furious driving we’ve come to enjoy, Baby Driver delivers. The music melding with the scenes fits so perfectly you wonder how they were able to time it just so.

10. Blade Runner: 2049 – My personal favorite, Blade runner hits a home run with a thorough story of the classic detective tale mixed with the sensations of the Sci-Fi theme, Blade Runner has you guessing all the way through and will leave you needing more.

2018’s upcoming movies to be on the lookout for

1. Black Panther – The first African American centered Super Hero movie will be released on February 16th, 2018. This movie has already seen its fair share of success just by watching the trailers. So far, everyone is excited to have some diversity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

2. The Isle of Dogs – Whether you know his name or not, you’ve most likely seen some of his movies. Wes Anderson’s new epic takes us to Japan in stop motion animation, just like The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Using Anderson’s directing style with a story such as this should provide us with a good movie and one to look back on and watch with fondness.

3. Ralph Breaks the Internet – Wreck-It Ralph takes on the web in this hilarious new movie that is a direct sequel to 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph. It’s a promising new movie that will hopefully be a nice tie in to the first animated adventure we received.

4. A Wrinkle-In-Time – This is Disney’s next live action movie in a long series of those such as Tomorrow Land. Having not read the book prior to this I’m not as excited as I could be, but from the looks of the cast, Oprah, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and Chris Pine, this should turn out just fine.

5. Tomb Raider – A video game turned into a movie turned into another movie, turned back into a smash hit video game turned back into another movie. The trailers for this look incredible, with non-stop action, and a stellar female lead, this will most likely be a great movie, and hopefully it doesn’t fall into the video game movie trap like the others do.

6. Pacific Rim: Uprising – Our favorite Storm Trooper, John Boyega, takes on the Kaju for the sequel to the first Pacific Rim. A movie that has received mix feelings towards, this movie however, looks to be a bit cornier, but a whole lot more fun.

7. Ready Player One – It seems like this is the year for video game movies, Ready Player One takes us into a futuristic world where there is no place to go but in, into the virtual reality world that is. This movie looks like a great call back to all of our favorite movies and video games throughout the years. Hopefully it can live up to its hype.

8. A Quiet Place – Not much is known about this movie other than its obvious use of silence for Horror. We haven’t seen a movie quite like this in recent years, but from the looks of it, it promises to give us a scare we won’t soon forget.

9. Peter Rabbit – This retelling of the classic children’s book looks like it would be perfect to see if you’re in the mood for a Rom-Com and a childish feeling. Perfect for a date with a crush or a surprise hangout with your little relative.

10. Annihilation – This female driven cast, led by Natalie Portman looks to be the perfect psychological thriller for this year’s movie list. It’s based on a book, but the movie looks to be enough. I will for sure be there opening night.
