The San Francisco Giants completed its journey, with a World Series Championship on October 28, 2012 against the Detroit Tigers with a score of 4-3 in extra innings.
During the playoffs the Giants had to play comeback in many of their series. After getting past two teams, the Reds and Cardinals, the Giants were looking to win their second championship in three years against the Detroit Tigers.
Kelli Jo Haley, a Giants’ fan, stated, “They showed character; they weren’t going to give up easily because they wanted it so bad. They had the hunger to win it all, and it clearly showed.”
Several Giants’ players made an impact on the games including Marco Scutaro, second baseman of the giants that won the NLCS MVP award and Pablo Sandoval who won the World Series MVP award.
Austin Newman, a Reds fan, stated, “Their momentum after coming back against the Reds, was huge. I had feeling they would make it to the World Series and win it because of a great team effort and their fight to win.”
The Giants are coached by Bruce Bochy, who has led the team to its second World Series in three years. They look to bringing back all their players and continue their championships in the future.
