Chili Cook-Off Raises $70 and 66 Pounds of Canned Goods

Kappa Delta and Lambda Chi Alpha hosted their annual chili cook off last Tuesday in McCoy. They raised $70 along with 66 pounds of canned goods to donate to the local soup kitchen. It cost five canned goods or $5 to enter a chili, and three canned goods or three dollars to eat unlimited chili. Years ago, the chili cook off with Kappa Delta and Lambda Chi was just a social event, it has developed into an annual community service event that is open to the entire campus. This year…

Goodies for Goblins Campus Trick-or-Treat

Goodies for Goblins was on November 2, put on by RSA. The kids trick or treated around the dorms then went into McCoy to play games. Kappa Delta had puffy painting, Omegas had face painting, Kappas had pin the spider on the web, Lil’ Sis had toss the ring on the witches’ hat, Lambda Chi had “Guess what’s in the box,” Sig had a haunted house, and TKB handed out candy at their house. Lastly, they left with pizza and cookies to end the night.

“Let’s Talk About Sex”

On Monday, October 23rd the sisters of Alpha Phi Kappa had a sex education workshop, open to all women to join. This consisted of learning about sexual consent and safety with Davina Cooper from Women Helping Women; and about sexual health and pleasure with Kelly Fogwell from Pure Romance. 10% of the proceeds from the Pure Romance shopping party went towards Hope House, which is Wilmington’s women’s shelter. Fall Greek Games Results After Homecoming Week

Greek Games started last week, with tug of war, quiz bowl, eating contest, and bed races; and will be over on Friday with disc golf. Tug-of-war took place on October 11th at the mud volleyball pit, which DTS and lil sis ran this event. DTS and Lil Sis dominated in this event, without losing to any other team. Kappa Deltas Invite Girl Scouts to Wilmington College Campus

One of Kappa Delta Sorority’s local philanthropies is the Girl Scouts. A handful of local troops come to every event held, and there are even professors at Wilmington College that have daughters in the Girl Scouts that get involved. It is important to Kappa Delta to instill confidence in young girls through these events. Every Girl Scout event must hold an educational aspect; they also hold a social aspect because the girls are building relationships with other girls outside of their troop along with Kappa Delta’s.
