The Student Government Association (SGA) hosted its weekly open meeting on Tuesday. All members of the Wilmington College community are invited and encouraged to attend these meetings as it is a direct form of communication to the student government.
Approximately twelve people attended the meeting. They represented SGA, Sodexo, WC Energize, and The Witness.
Below are the topics presented by the SGA board of the Sept. 17 meeting:
Cody Martin, the vice president of administration, was absent.
Chase Menchofer, the vice president of faculty, alumni, and trustees, reported disappointment in the amount of participation for the Homecoming banner contest, but he appreciated those organizations that submitted banners.
Chris Zody, the vice president of SGA, reported that the first Student Senate meeting was scheduled to take place after the SGA open meeting.
Nate Johnson, the vice president of finance, had nothing to report.
Logan Schroer, the vice president of elections, reported that the Homecoming shirts were a hit, only a small amount of them remain.
Wil Overholt, the vice president of public relations, had nothing to report.
Kameron Rinehart, the president of SGA, reported that the Pyle Center scrolling announcements are updated daily; all campus groups are welcome to submit content. The tower gardens have been planted and when the plants are ready, they will be transferred into the towers. SGA and Sodexo are working out the final details for bringing composting to campus.
Sigrid Solomon, SGA’s adviser, reported that the certification to drive the College’s 15-passenger vans is changing. Specific details will be announced shortly.
Other topic points presented by non-SGA attendees include:
A Sodexo representative asked for feedback regarding the service that Sodexo provides. The Food Committee meets every fourth Tuesday of each month. All students and faculty are welcome to attend and give feedback regarding the dining on campus.
APB will have its Paint n Sip event this Thursday; tickets are available to all students. A trip to an FC Cincinnati soccer game will be on this Sunday. Transportation is provided.
For those filling out SGA reimbursement forms, if people want the check to be sent to their Pyle box, they should make an additional note on the form that says such. Otherwise, the Business Office will mail the check to the address in their system.
WC Energize requested SGA for more funds.
UPDATE: Cody Martin, the vice president of administration, has resigned due to personal reasons.
According to the SGA constitution, in Article V “Vacancies” Section 1, “if less than fifty percent of the Administration term has expired, then the vacancy will be filled through an election process.” Since Martin has completed less than 50 percent of his appointed term, an election to fill the vacant position should ensue, per this procedure.
